G2 Android OS / Sync is currently experiencing problems
« on: December 01, 2014, 02:00:30 PM »
Cannot access GMail, Play Store or any other Google function. Trying to log on gets me a msg. that I'm using an invalid password. No, that password works fine on PCs. Checking in Accounts & sync there is a message that 'Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly.' Well, no it won't. Message has been there for 3 days. A web search tells me that there is an app on the store, but that's no help.  AT%T G2 with Android 4.4.2

G2 Help / Re: G2 Charging Sync Cable
« on: November 06, 2014, 02:41:48 PM »
According to a post on the XDA-Developers.com site, 'Proprietary LG G2 USB 3.0' the working cable is USB 3.0 rated with 11 pins. I don't know whether this is standard for USB 3.0, they din't say. If this really the case (LG only), are we stuck with ISP's cables?

G2 Help / G2 Charging Sync Cable
« on: November 05, 2014, 04:46:00 PM »
I want to get a spare cable for syncing my G2 with my PC, since the issue cable is mostly dedicated to charging from the issue wall wart. Google tells me that there are extra pins in the G2 connector, so not any cable will work. Is this specific to LG, Qualcom or do other phones use the same connector. AT&T wants $15, which isn't a great deal, but there are much less expensive cables on Amazon, if I could tell which ones work.

I have similar problems. With the issue cable and charger I get about 1600ma charging current, but elsewhere...  150ma from USB2, 300ma on USB3 and 500ma from a 2.1amp charger, all with the issue cable. Rates much the same with other cables. This 'use only our stuff' is a definite black mark for LG and the G2; any standard gear should work, that's what standards are for.

g2-lg.com has manuals (PDFs) for T-mobile. Sprint, Bell, Verizon and AT&T. If you don't want to print one, up to a couple of hundred pages, at home, download to a USB drive and head to Staples or Office Depot.

G2 Help / Re: Screen dims when I rotate while outside...

Are you wearing polarized sunglasses? It took me about a week to figure out why I couldn't see in landscape mode. Screen wasn't dim, it was black. OK indoors, bad outdoors sounds like sunglasses.

Member Reported News / G2 Price drops to $19.99 at Radio Shack
« on: February 13, 2014, 05:23:10 PM »
The Radio Shack flyer I got this week offers the G2 for $19.99 with 2 year contract on several carriers. Seems like Apple and Samsung own the world! Very unhappy to see a 90% price drop in less than 6 months.

G2 General Discussions / Black screen with landscape camera
« on: January 08, 2014, 01:31:58 PM »
I have recently discovered an interesting phenomenon. The reason my G2 camera sometimes goes blank is my sunglasses. The glasses and the camera app are both polarized and when the polarities are right I can't see the screen. Regular phone apps don't have this problem/feature.
Can anyone supply some more information on this? Is it specific to the G2? To any LG phone?

G2 Help / Online manuals for G2
« on: December 11, 2013, 07:38:51 PM »
Who has the best online manual for the G2? I suspect that the differences between carrier versions is not great, so the info should be transferable. I particularly am interested in organizing various home screens so none are too crowded. It would also be nice to find a way to stop most of my double taps from bringing up the camera!

Also, it's pretty sensitive to battery state. A really low battery hardly responds to anything but the charger.

G2 Accessories / Re: Cases for the G2 Phone

AT&T sells a BodyGlove case for ca. $35. Hard shell, elastic liner (anti-microbial). Makes the phone larger but seems like good protection. The hard shell makes it easier to slide into a pocket, as opposed to the stickier rubber/plastic ones.

G2 Android OS / Re: G2 OS Version?

My month old G2 has Android 4.2.2. Checking for updates says that's the current version.

G2 Help / Re: Slow Charging Message
« on: October 16, 2013, 01:10:09 PM »
Using CurrentWidget I get the following readings:
from the wall 1500-1600 mA (looks like the widget works)
   from Powered USB 3.0 hub
both data and charging ports show 100-160 mA with rapid changes
Information on the G2 is still very sparse; I have hopes for more info from somewhere.

Well, it's something mysterious in the G2. Plugged in to the LG wall adapter, the charging rate is pretty good. There seem to be charging only cables on Amazon. I may get one of them, since I'd rather not have to crawl around on the floor.
