G2 Games / Re: What's Your Favourite Game
« on: September 30, 2014, 10:03:08 PM »
GNES super Nintendo emulator and epsxe PlayStation emulator are both fantastic.
Glu's "call of duty; black ops zombies" was cool, but is broken after kit kat update.
Using a Bluetooth controller makes gaming on the G2 much nicer. Not every game has support though.

G2 Root, Hacks, Mods And Development / Re: LG G3 Rom on G2

Just so you know, you won't get the laser focus, since our phones don't have the laser. But it will record video and pics in 4k quality from what I've read, haven't tried it myself.

G2 Root, Hacks, Mods And Development / Cyagenmod for G2. Anyone try it?

Has anyone tried the CyagenMod 10 or 11? I'm interested in getting more out of my vs980.

G2 Help / Re: [Q] Configuring Samsung Smart TV to recognize LG G2

What kind of connection are you trying to make?  What function are you going for?

G2 Accessories / Chromecast will now mirror your G2!
« on: July 17, 2014, 10:33:25 PM »
The inexpensive chromecast($35) can now mirror your screen to a big screen similar to Miracast. It seems to work much better than the netgear ptv3000 I used in the past. As for the chromecast functionality, Netflix had an awesome picture and Pandora works great.  However you need a home WiFi setup. (Or a sepperate hotspot)

So, I paid $20 for the slimport adapter from Amazon.  It's ok, not great. It runs 1080p and works most of the time until it begins to randomly cut out. I suspect it's because of the low price, maybe it's a knock off. Also it won't allow usb after the slimport. Hopefully the better model works better.

No MHL for the G2. Slimport is like a competing company. Slimport is like a version of display port. It is supposed to use less power from your phone, you can still charge while connected and I think you can still run usb devices while connected (my slimport shows up Thursday) .

I've heard of people using slimport and usb hubs. It might need to be the newer adapters, slimport 2.0. I am waiting on my accessories to test. I hope I can get it to work. Might have to be a powered usb hub.

Not everyone knows that your G2 has USB OTG(on the go). It allows your phone to act as host for usb, meaning you can connect a number of devices like a wired mouse or keyboard, a flash drive, a printer, a USB hub to connect multiple devices, or even a wired xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 controller. All you need is a micro USB male to USB female adapter (for like $2.00). For devices that require more power than your phone can give, they have an adapter with a sepperate power cord.

If you're still under warranty then let your carrier know of your problem. They will probably cover it unless there is evidence of a drop, water damage, or if it's rooted.

G2 Root, Hacks, Mods And Development / the new G3 mod
« on: June 25, 2014, 11:35:58 PM »
I read that there's a new G2 mod based on the G3's. It includes the "flat UI", 4K video recording and more. I here it's pretty stable. When I'm ready to void my warranty it would be nice to overclock the processor.  and run this.

Always make sure your lens is spotless or it defeats the cameras focus feature.

G2 General Discussions / Re: want to connect a G2 to a tv?
« on: June 18, 2014, 12:53:52 AM »
After some research I found that slimport is the next step after MHL, capable of 4K HD picture including 3D and 8 channel audio. Also it's capable of still using the usb port for OTG (on the go). Meaning you can use a big screen and a peripheral device like a wired controller or a printer, keyboard, ect...

It is a durable phone by today's standards. That being said,I use an Otter box defender case.(modified, I removed the screen protector and replaced with my own). Screens and digitizers are replaceable but a hassle.

My previous phone, a Motorola droid bionic, used a mini hdmi  cable sepperate from the USB. It worked great until whatever you were doing overtaxed the device. It ran a version of Ubuntu Linux as a sort of a desktop OS.
