No, it is not.  But for what it's worth, none of the extended battery solutions that I know of have wireless charging.

G5 General Discussions / What would you like to see on the G5?
« on: January 19, 2016, 02:28:37 PM »
What features would you like to see on the G5?  What changes from the G4 would you want and what would you like to keep?  Let us hear your thoughts.

The above diagram obtained from AndroidAuthority seems to prove that LG's next G series flagship, the G5 will be undergoing a major redesign.  As seen above the new look features a metal body and most notably moves LG's trademark back buttons to the side while leaving the power button/fingerprint scanner on the rear.  The new phone will also have slightly different dimensions and be a bit thicker than the old model.  The LG G4 measures 148.9 x 76.1 x 6.3-9.8mm while the G5 is expected to be 149.4 x 73.9 x 8.2mm.

Now the above leaked diagram seems to match up fairly nicely with a rendering made and released by CNET Korea by a person who claims to have seen the device.  Notice the removable battery through a new design where the bottom removes.  Now we're not sure if this design of removable bottom is accurate or not but if the G5 is made from a single piece of aluminum it might make sense.  Another point of confusion is the screen size which we've heard variable reports going from 5.3 inches up to 5.6 inches.  The current G4 sports a 5.5 inch display.  The G5 is expected to be first introduced to the public during the Mobile World Congress expo in March.  We'll be sure to report any released info before and leading up to the event.  Meanwhile let us know what you think of the new design in the comments below.

The LG G4 is jam packed with awesome hardware like that Snapdragon 808 processor, 16MP camera with manual setting options and 2K 2560 x 1440 display.  The software on the G4 features LG's widely praised 'light' skinning of the Android operating system that provides a consistently attractive look along with fast response and all kinds of nifty features and options to help make the G4 uniquely your own.  It's these software options that are so plentiful combined with the G4s hardware that this video concentrates on.  Way beyond the simple double knock or knock code to wake your G4 up, the G4 is chock full of all sorts of little known features, tweaks and options that once you know about will transform you into a LG G4 power user and help you maximize your use of this awesome phone.  The above video by Sakitech walks us through over 50 of these tips and tricks and is a 'must watch' video for all G4 owners.  After you do let us know what the favorite thing you learned about by commenting below.

G4 Cameras, Pictures & Audio / G4 Video Manual Controls
« on: December 31, 2015, 03:05:53 PM »
So I love the manual camera controls for still pictures and saw that LG's new handset the V10 also has these manual controls available for video...which the G4 does not.  Does anyone know of a 3rd party app that gives the G4 video these manual controls?  I'd love to be able to adjust ISO or shutter speed while filming video not to mention setting the white balance manually in certain situations.

G4 Accessories / Android OBDII OBD2 Bluetooth Scanner
« on: December 31, 2015, 03:02:05 PM »
Picked up an Android Bluetooth OBDII scanner to use with my G4 because my BMW check engine light went on and I wanted to see what code was triggered.  This thing is awesome and has saved me several trips to the mechanic just to have a code checked.  Downloaded the trial version of the Torque app in the Play Store to my G4 and it works like a charm.  Immediately paired up with the scanner via bluetooth and let's see you see and clear any fault codes and also see all kinds of other parameters of your cards systems.  Definitely recommend.   Here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/BAFX-Products-34t5-Bluetooth-Android/dp/B005NLQAHS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1451595501&sr=8-1&keywords=obd+2

G4 General Discussions / What features would you like to see in the LG G5?
« on: December 31, 2015, 01:40:26 PM »
The G4 is an awesome phone with one of the best cameras of any Android handset as well as some of the most powerful specs.  With that said, there's always a way to make it better so we'd like to know...what would you like to see in the company's next flagship, the G5?   We're hoping for a still bigger sensor for the phone, the video manual controls seen on the V10 would be great and the dynamic microphone controls would be cool too.  Battery life can always be improved and what about an aluminum body?  Let's hear your thoughts...

Venture Beat's Evan Blass of @evleaks fame has just released a boatload of information on LG's next flagship phone, the G5.  Continuing in their pattern of upgrading the audio visual specs and features of their G line that goes back to the G2, G3 and current G4 the new G5 reportedly will feature some really cool features that should give it a leg up on the competition. Some of these include the Snapdragon 820 system on a chip, a second 'wide angle' lens on the rear that is next to the main 16MP camera, dual LED flashes in addition to the laser autofocus and RGB center, a secondary display that appears to be similar to the one that is on the company's V10 phone, a slightly smaller form factor featuring a 5.3 inch display instead of the current 5.5 inch, but retaining the same 2k resolution (2560x1440).

Finally perhaps most interesting is the inclusion of an expansion slot that will be branded as the 'Magic Slot'  for some special accessories that could include things such as specialized camera modules with functions for action, 360 VR, “party” and perhaps an audio amplifier or a physical keyboard.  The design is to feature a metal chassis which should give the G5 a more premium look.  This follows the industry trend by Apple, Motorola and Samsung with their flagships to include a more robust metal frame.  All in all it looks like an exciting upgrade to the G4.  We're especially excited about the wide angle lens, the secondary display and any possible software improvements that will be included.

G3 Accessories / Hyperion LG G3 Extended Battery And Back Cover
« on: December 25, 2015, 01:36:26 PM »
So I wanted to share a great experience I had with the Hyperion extended battery and back cover.   Really made a huge difference in my use of the phone.  Went from only getting half a day of use before having to charge to being able to use it all day.  The honeycomb TPU case that is specifically made for the larger back cover/battery bulge is also well designed and seems to be of quality construction.  Now that I've upgraded to the G4 I've got another one on order that should be arriving in a few days.  If anyone has been thinking of getting an extended battery for their G3, I definitely recommend the Hyperion.  It's only $29.99 and well worth it.  Here's a link:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NLJAEJO/ref=s9_hps_bw_g107_i13

G4 Cameras, Pictures & Audio / Re: G4 vs. G3 Camera in low light situations
« on: December 25, 2015, 01:30:02 PM »
So just got my G4 last week and I have to say the low light ability is really terrific.  In addition to the fast f1.8 aperture, the manual controls let you change ISO and shutter speed.   It makes a world of difference.  I sat in my pitch black apartment the other day and did a series of photos pointed at a night stand and lamp.  Even though I could barely make the stand and lamp out with my naked eye, I was able to get a clear 'bright' photo by adjusting the manual controls.  Used it again last night during a Christmas Even party at a hotel here in LA indoors.  Makes a world of difference.  I'll post some samples when I get a chance.  I'm loving this camera on the G4 right now.

I'm thinking of trying the Cyanogenmod ROM for my G4.  Anyone try it out yet?  Thoughts?

G4 Ordering and Shipping / Sprint LG G4 Promotion
« on: December 24, 2015, 05:29:58 PM »
So I just got my G4 on the Sprint network. They had a really cool promotion where I basically didn't pay anything upfront and they included $200 in accessories which I used to purchase a Harmon Kardon Aura wireless stereo which lists for $399 and usually costs around $250 online.  Granted, I turned in my pristine G3 as well.  Anyone else get this deal?  I'm very happy with the G4 so far.

If I were to pick the one 'must have' accessory for both the LG G4 and G3 phones it has to be buying an extended battery such as the Hyperion 6000 mAh you see above.  Having a replaceable battery and removable back have become rarities in the smartphone world and this unique feature gives us the ability to purchase a battery that has more power and thus lasts longer than the factory battery that came with the device.  I'm a power user and while I loved the G3 and love my new G4, as someone that spends a lot of time on my phone I found the battery, as good as it is, just didn't last the full day.  But with the Hyperion Extended Battery this easily solved the problem.

The factory battery for both the G3 and G4 has 3000 mAh of power while the Hyperion has double that at 6000 mAh.  What this means is that you'll get twice as much screen on as well as standby time on your phone.  If you're a heavy user this means you'll get all day+ battery life and if you're a light or moderate user you'll see two full days or even possibly three.  I can't tell you how much of a difference this makes in real world use. No longer do I have to change my schedule around charging my phone's battery or worry about charging a second battery to carry with me.  It's one less thing I have to worry about each day because my phone always has plenty of power all the way until I get home at night and plug in to recharge.  I don't even need to use my car charger anymore...it's that good.

Now like all extended range batteries the Hyperion is larger than a standard battery and so comes with a special back for your phone that allows room for this larger battery.  At first I was dubious and thought that maybe it would be too heavy or take away from the slimness of the phone.  But you know what?  I actually like it better.  The quality back actually fits better in the hand than the stock cover.  The G3 and G4 have always been thin phones and the slight extra thickness with this extra battery and the slight 'shelf' in the case where the battery stops and becomes thin again actually is perfectly placed for your hand to rest your fingers as you're holding the phone.  The weight difference is also negligible.  If anything it makes it feel more substantial and makes me feel more confident in holding the phone.  Now there are some other brands of extended range batteries that are much bigger and more expensive that do make the G3 or G4 like a large brick...but the Hyperion is the perfect balance between size/weight and longer life.

At $29.99 for either the G3 or G4 model it's got twice as much power as the standard battery and the size difference is very reasonable.  In addition Hyperion offers several bumper cases specially designed to fit over the larger extended battery case.  I've put links here for both the G4 and G3 extended batteries with back covers, as well as the Hyperion TPU Honeycomb bumper cases in black or white that fit over these.   One last HUGE selling point.  These Hyperion batteries and cases all come with the company's 2 year 'no hassle' warranty.   That's an awesome thing to have because if you have any problems at all with these batteries (you won't you'll see) they'll swap you out a new one no questions asked.  Awesome.

Trust me...you're going to thank me after you buy one.  It fixes what I consider to be the only weakness of both the G3 and G4...middling battery life and the fit, finish and performance of the Hyperion extended range batteries, back and case are awesome.  You won't be disappointed.  I've shopped around on both Amazon and Ebay to find the best deals so hit the links below and buy one...you can thank me later as you realize how awesome it is to use your phone without any worries about battery life again.

There's not one, but two Chromecast promotions going on right now that when combined end up being quite a deal.  First off, Google is offering any new Chromecast or Chromecast Audio buyer $20 in free Google Play Credit to use for your choice of music, movies or apps.   This offer is good for all new Chromecast purchases as long as they are activated by January 2nd, 2016.  But that's not all.  BestBuy is also offering their own promotion.  You can save $5 on a single Chromecast (now $30 instead of $35) or $15 on two Chromecast or Chromecast Audios when bought together for just $55 for both.  If you consider in addition to this discount you factor in the $20 in Google Play credit you're in effect getting two Chromecasts for $35...the normal price of one.  The Google Play Credit is good no matter where you purchase your new Chromecast as long as it's activated by 1/2/2016.  We've included the link below to Best Buy's Chromecast page where you can get this deal.  Then, once your Chromecasts arrive simply set them up and navigate over to Google's Chromecast page to redeem for your free $20 in Google Play Credit!
