Stock Music Player - problem with ID3 tags
« on: December 11, 2013, 06:15:52 AM »
Hi There!

I am newcomer to the forum and proud owner of new G2 phone for over a week now. I can say that I'm really impressed by the phone!

I just have one small problem with the Stock Music Player:

I have some MP3 files, with ID3 tags edited via iTunes. In the tags I have complete info about the Song name; Artist; Album; Album cover and even the Lyrics.

When I did transfered over 40 mp3 files to my G2 and tried to play all of them, I can see only one (the same) picture as an album cover for all the songs, even though most of them have different album pictures stored in their ID3 tags.

Moreover with the G2 stock music player, when you click on the album cover while the song is playing, you should see the song lyrics if there are such stored in the ID3 tag. In my case, I have the lyrics stored for all of my mp3's, but I cannot see any of it during the song playback!

Can anyone help with a solution?

Thanks in advance!

This was similarly discussed here just recently --  http://lgg2forum.com/g2-help/music-files-not-transferring-with-all-correct-data/

I didn't move my music files onto this device but will give it a go tonight so I can see this first-hand.

Although I've now seen this bug/issue mentioned a couple times now (including yours), very odd that it doesn't seem to be wider spread since the device launched in September.

Can you check with a 3rd party player (just temporarily, of course) to see if we can narrow it down?

Hi Klotar,

Thank you for your suggestion!

Meanwhile I've studied the problem and finally came to the solution that worked out for me!

I had to modify the ID3 tags filling the Album cell (previously left blank) with the appropriate album name in order to make the stock music player pulling out the stored within the tag particular album cover.

Simple as that!

I hope it will help others to solve similar difficulties!

Thanks anyway for your time and support!

Great to hear that you've solved the issue!  As a side note, I copied some mp3's over to my G2 last night, and although I wasn't quite as bad off as in your initial post, I had some songs with tags missing.  I tried and bought an app called PlayerPro, and was able to edit/add/delete tags right on the device, very nice app.
