Has anyone replaced just the glass?
« on: December 17, 2013, 10:47:01 AM »
I shattered the screen on my verizon g2.  I found the glass alone but dont know how complicated, if possible at all,  this project is.  Thanks for any help you can give

I personally would find a professional to do it it happened to my old S4 and I was so happy to get my replacement glass then watched like 12 vids on how to do it all was well till I was @ the bottom part of the glass then I cracked my digitizer and it only displayed the last thing that was on it and wouldn't do anything else I was so saddened by that it's still on my dresser I look at it sometimes it was my back up phone !

I don't consider myself non-technical but I'm not sure I would want to tackle a screen replacement (and yes, I have watched numerous videos too).  That said, because I haven't yet cracked/broken a screen, not sure how desperate I might get if it did happen (i.e. I am not sure I could wait a week or two for the part to arrive before attempting replacement).

As geezio suggested, I'd take it to a shop.  While it would certainly cost more, say, if they break the replacement screen while installing it, then that isn't your loss.  Get an estimate -- personally, if the whole job (parts, labour, etc.) costs more than 1/3 of a new device, I would consider something else; like getting a refurb or used one.  The 1/3 is an arbitrary personal number, maybe 1/2 is better but no more than $300 for me.
