Usim card from iPhone
« on: April 05, 2014, 11:16:08 AM »
Hello,
Have just bought the LG G2 phone after using the iPhone 4s for nearly three years.
I have taken the sim card from the iPhone and installed it in the G2, wanting to keep my old telephone number, etc.
and thought that all of my contacts would also be available.
The telephone number works o.k., but how can I get to my contacts on the sim card?
Thanks.

Are you sure that the iPhone stored your contacts on the SIM card?

According to the various articles on the internet using google, the iPhone can read contacts from SIM card but does not write nor store contacts on the SIM card (from original iPhone all the way up to iPhone5).

Assuming you still have your iPhone, you can download and install Google Contacts from the iTunes store.  Sync your iPhone contacts with Google (gmail), and then sync your G2 to gmail (Google).

Here is an article that may also help, with a few alternative methods:

Klotar,

Thanks for that info, you are correct, the iPhone simcard is write only (I have been told).

And thanks for the link, I will follow it up.

Here's also an article by Apple on how to sync to Google Contacts:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4872

The first article made it sound like there was an app for that but this second article seems to indicate that an app isn't needed.  In any case, good luck and let us know how it worked out.

Well, I did my usual trick, rushed into it too fast and somehow lost all my contacts on the iPhone. later finding out that I could have gone the Google store way.

It's a lesson learned, and my mistake this may help others.

Thanks for the advice anyway.

All hope may not be lost, do you have any backups on iTunes on your laptop or computer?  Restoring from an old backup is usually better than nothing at all.
