status bar
« on: April 28, 2014, 08:02:18 AM »
I'm sure - or not sure(depends how you look at it) - this is something else I've screwed up. The battery indicator on the status bar of my phone is white not green the way it used to be. And there's no lightning bolt. Or I can't see it since the battery's now white.  Also when it gets low it used to change color. Yellow then red. Not doing that either. Guess it's in Settings somewhere. As usual I have no clue.

Hi mafiaprincess,

You must have upgraded to Android 4.4.2 Kitkat recently.  Unfortunately, Google has made it mandatory as part of the Android 4.4 specification that all system icons must now all be white.  The ones that changed right away are those for wi-fi, nfc, bluetooth, signal level, battery level, alarm, location, hotspot and date/time.  All apps by 3rd parties are also supposed to change the icon colour from whatever they originally were to white to be 4.4 compliant; however, existing apps will still have whatever colours they had before.

Basically, all the icons on the "right side" of the notification bar are now white because Google forced LG and all other manufacturers/vendors running 4.4 Kitkat to comply with this requirement (so Samsung, Sony, HTC, etc. must all have white icons now).  Personally, I liked the cyan colour and multi-colour-changing icons too.
