Phone number wrong in settings
« on: April 30, 2014, 07:29:41 AM »
Hi All.

I'm new here. First post.

I recently bought my LG G2, direct from EE, on contract.
It was an upgrade so i carried my mobile number forward. However, i notice that the handset has a different phone number in the settings.

I have spoked to EE, but they dont know how to correct this. Any ideas?

Good question.

I haven't had time to really look for a solution yet today, but in the meantime, try this:

Open CONTACTS, and there should be a contact near the top called "ME".  I am not sure if I called it that or it's a default name, but anyways...

Click on that ME contact, and touch the pencil icon (top right) to edit the record.  Your Profile should open up.

If the phone number showing there is the "wrong" phone number, I think we are in the right place.  I think you can just change your number there, Save, and you should be set.

If that doesn't work, post back and we will look at trying other solutions.

EDIT: with further thought, I think the G2 is reading the number from your SIM card.  BlackBerry's and iPhones can change the phone number by writing to the SIM card but Android devices cannot.  I think the information on the SIM has to be edited by the carrier (they can do this over the air once they know what the issue is), or you can go in to an EE outlet and get a new SIM card.

Hi
The top contact in the list was not listed as "Me", but as "Paul ......" (my name). However, it did not have any number attached to it.
I entered my actual number into this and saved it.
But this has had no impact on the incorrect number in the settings/status.

Any other help?
