Not Able to Delete or Edit default APN setting
« on: June 14, 2014, 07:56:07 AM »
I am using Strint variant unlocked in India (LS980). I am not able to edit or delete any APN settings. If I create a new one, I am able to delete/edit. Please advice how to resolve this issue

But if you are using an LS980 in India, do you not want to create a new APN for your carrier?

Hi Klotar,

When I insert the SIM (GSM), there are two APN settings which are automatically present. One for MMS and one for normal internet (portalnmms and VMC). By default it uses the portalnmms and with this few apps like whatsapp, instagram, FB-messenger doesnt work.
And since I am not able to edit or delete APN (I do not see even reset default option) I am stuck with a wrong APN setting.

Andriod version:4.2.2
kernel: 3.4.0
build: JDQ39B
Software: LS980ZV7

Please advice

thanks!

Hello -- sorry if I wasn't clear AND sorry if I am answering incorrectly because I honestly haven't had to change my APN settings personally.

I would think that if you could find out the correct APN settings for your carrier, you could set them up as a new APN and then use that instead of what is on your SIM card...?  That said, I'm sure from your post that this would have been the first thing that you tried.

Can you tell us who your carrier is (Airtel, Aircel, Loop, MTS, etc.)?

Do the apps that you mentioned work on Wi-Fi?

Edit/Add: to clarify a bit -- most users that experience APN issues (especially those with D802 International Model G2's) find that if they use the default APN, that their MMS does not work (videos/pictures sent via MMS), especially after an OS upgrade or factory reset even though the APN's worked fine when they first got their G2's.  In your case, using a Sprint G2, it could be that the APN's are not editable as you have found (I do not know either way but believe you when you say you can't edit it).  So I am thinking that if you wrote down the default APN settings and then created a new APN using APN settings for your cellular carrier (e.g. AirTel for example), you should be able to select the new APN you just created and use that instead of the default Sprint one.  From the wording of your posts, I believe that you thought of this already and maybe you just need to Google your carrier's APN settings?  Or have you tried that already too?
