Synced Facebook contacts - Can't edit
« on: June 17, 2014, 06:38:04 AM »
Hello! I was using Nokia Lumia before buying G2. On Lumia there was an option to edit synced facebook contacts (to add mobile phone numbers to the contact). On G2 I can't figure out how to do that. Is it even possible to add phone numbers to the contacts or I need to create another contact just for the number?

Thank you!

Is your default addressbook (contacts) on "Phone" or your gmail account?

If on your gmail account, can you edit them using a PC browser as opposed to editing on your G2?

EDIT: okay, I had to look it up but apparently on Android devices, you cannot edit sync'd Facebook contacts.  However, there are two ways around that:

1) if you create new contact with the same name, Android/G2 will merge that together for you with your Facebook contact.  When you go to edit your Facebook contact (i.e. add phone number), you are really editing your merged contact but it will look, for all intents and purposes, like you are editing your Facebook contact.

2) you can use a free app called Go Contacts in the Play Store and edit your contacts directly.  Here is the link:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jbapps.contact

Apparently the inability to edit Facebook contacts on Android is intentional and by design (since, you can't edit Facebook contacts from your PC browser either).  That said, it does seem kinda silly but...
