the new G3 mod

I read that there's a new G2 mod based on the G3's. It includes the "flat UI", 4K video recording and more. I here it's pretty stable. When I'm ready to void my warranty it would be nice to overclock the processor.  and run this.

Is there still a lot of benefits to rooting even if you don't mod your phone? I've been wondering if leaving my phone as is after rooting and then tweaking it is worth it.
