"touch and hold this screen to add more apps or widgets"
« on: November 02, 2013, 05:43:58 PM »
ATT Service. Screens that have no apps or widgets instead show the message "Touch and hold this screen to add more apps or widgets." Thing is, I want one screen to be empty of apps and wiggets so I can enjoy my wallpaper. Is there any way to have a truly blank screen (without that message)?

Offhand, I don't know but will check around if you get no answers from the others (I don't have the AT&T model).

However, you can always "pinch out" from your homescreen, or from any page, and you will see your wallpaper without any icons, menu bars, etc.  This way, there is no need to have a blank page specifically for displaying your wallpaper.

I know about the pinch out option.  The problem is that it eliminates everything, including the task bar, and won't let you flip between screens.

Understood.  Hopefully someone can chime in with a solution or alternative.  On my model, I don't have that dialog so I can't help directly.  I have seen it or something similar on the lock screens though.

One alternative is to replace the launcher if you are adamant about having a blank screen available.  Another small concession is to have one small and unimposing widget (maybe transparent) on that screen to make it "almost blank".  There are also apps out there that let you have a completely blank lockscreen (just wallpaper showing).  Another idea is to just have a shortcut to your wallpaper.  Just click the icon to see your wallpaper (although not sure if the status and menu bars show).

I've just looked though the D800 (AT&T) manual, and don't see the "Touch and hold this screen to add more apps or widgets" mentioned specifically.  Are tips turned on?
